29th June to 6th July 2013

Join us in sunny Andalucia for a week of uplifting singing led by renowned vocal coach and broadcaster Mary King (C4's Operatunity, Musicality). Our base for the week is a stunning olive estate in the Andalucian hills with excellent facilities including a lovely pool. Delicious local Andalucian food and wine will be served up throughout.

Afternoon excursions will include a tasting at a sherry bodega in Jerez, a chance to explore the beautiful city of Seville, a trip to the mountainside town of Grazalema, and a visit to Cadiz, the oldest city in Europe.

A fun-packed musical programme and an active social schedule will guarantee a memorable holiday.

The course is fully inclusive of accommodation, meals, tuition, excursions and airport transfers.

The Sixteen's Choral Pilgrimage 2013

The Sixteen
The Sixteen
The Sixteen

In 2013 The Sixteen will present its most far-reaching Choral Pilgrimage tour yet, encompassing 35 concerts across the UK and Ireland. The tour, entitled The Queen of Heaven, will see Harry Christophers CBE and his choir perform music in churches and cathedrals for which it was written.

An unmissable new version of Allegri's Miserere is one highlight of this year's programme, which also features stunning music by the ‘Prince of Music’ Palestrina, as well another brilliant yet contrasting setting of the Miserere by James Macmillan.

Conductor Harry Christophers says: ‘For our 13th Choral Pilgrimage, I have decided to look at the music of three composers who, although separated by centuries, are unique in their devotion to the Church. We really do have a wealth of simply glorious music for you which I have no doubt will enrich all our lives’.

Ticket prices range from £10 - £40. Most concerts can be booked online at www.ncem.co.uk. Alternatively call 01904 651485 to book, or for more information visit www.thesixteen.com

The Queen of Heaven (COR16108)

The Queen of Heaven limited-edition boxed set features the music from The Choral Pilgrimage 2013 as well as the complete Missa Regina caeli by Palestrina, The Sixteen's best-selling recording of the established version of Allegri's Miserere and a stunning selection of MacMillan's choral works including O bone Jesu and the Tenebrae Responsories.

Allegri's Miserere, in the new version heard during the 2013 Pilgrimage, is available as a Master Quality Download (96kHz/24-bit) at

Discover Normandy for your next choir tour

With an ever increasing number of groups expressing an interest in Normandy as a choir tour destination, the team at Rayburn Tours recently visited the region, and over 5 days rediscovered why so many groups choose to travel and perform here. With spectacular performance venues suiting a range of repertoire styles, and a host of leisure options from which to choose from, Normandy is a clear choice for groups considering a close to home choir tour.

We recommend basing your group in the city of Caen. Located in the centre of the Calvados area of lower Normandy, it's the ideal base from which to explore the region; the area enjoys good access to the D-Day landing beaches, the lovely port town of Honfleur, and is not too far from Mont St Michel and Rouen.

The beautiful Abbaye Aux Hommes is the ideal venue for groups performing a sacred repertoire, the Place 6 Juin for those wishing to perform outdoors on a bustling tourist promenade, or one of our old favourites, the Eglise St Patrice in Bayeux, an intimate gem of a church where concerts are well supported by the local community.

We work with all groups to create a completely tailor made itinerary. Departure dates, travel, duration, excursions and concerts will be planned to meet the individual requirements of you choir.

With Normandy prices from only £287 per person for a 4 day 3 night tour, start discussing your performance tour objectives with us, and we'll do the rest. Further details about all our concert tour destinations can be found on our website www.rayburntours.com or you can call our team on 01332 347 828 for further information.

Brandenburg Choral Festival
Reaches Half Way!

Brandenburg Choral Festival
Brandenburg Choral Festival

The Brandenburg Choral Festival, enters its second half in March after its busiest opening months yet.

Top classical music listings and reviews website bachtrack.com described one concert as "an impressive evening of music making by some of the up and coming stars of the choral world".

Attendances have been buoyant this year, with February's performance of Thomas Tallis's Spem in alium by the choir of the chapel of King's College on the Strand drawing a record audience for a late night concert at St Martin's. Bachtrack.com also reported, "Even at 9.20 on a cold Thursday evening in January, there were queues out the door."

The first week of March saw the festival's busiest period with eight performances in eight days, providing a snapshot of the festival's eclectic range - from Bach Cantatas for the aficionado to Jazz in the Crypt at St Martins.

As well as the more traditional style of concert, it included an appearance of the Brandenburg Choral Festival's unique Fringe Club. This new venture for the 2013 festival takes the form of monthly a cappella sessions at a secret location in Covent Garden. Each night promises a tasting menu with a varied mix of styles in an intimate bar venue setting.

The club next opens its doors on 5 April, and details of how to join are on the festival website: http://www.brandenburgchoralfestival.co.uk/fringe/festival_fringe_club.php

The Brandenburg Choral Festival runs until 6 May with 15 events in March, 16 in April and 3 at the start of May.

Full details of the second half of the Festival are at www.brandenburgchoralfestival.co.uk
