TAKE TWENTY SINGERS Summer Musical Weekend / 20-22 July 2007

This summer's TAKE TWENTY MUSICAL WEEKEND will be taking place at Urchfont Manor, near Devizes in Wiltshire.

As always, our summer residential is a great opportunity for outsiders to join our group for a stimulating, fun (and hopefully inspiring) long-weekend break – singing under the 'baton' of our new MD, Rachel Coward, who will be helping us get to grips with a new set of swinging / smooth vocal jazz harmony arrangements... at our favourite out-of-London venue!

You can find out more about this by downloading the illustrated pdf, attached, or by reading on, below.

Urchfont is a small village in the green rolling countryside of Wiltshire. Although further from London than some of our other summer destinations, the house and grounds are beautiful. In the village there is a typical country pub that is within easy walking distance, and it is generally agreed that the food at the Manor itself is excellent – they even publish their own cookbook.

We begin on Friday evening with supper and a free evening to get settled in. This is followed by a full day of rehearsing new arrangements on Saturday, interspersed by tea-breaks, meals and a free slot to relax, socialise, whatever.

On Saturday evening we traditionally put on a cabaret for each other, where all contributions are welcome – and which in the past has featured all things vocal (poems, arias, madrigals, barbershop and close harmony singing) and instrumental. We encourage everyone who's keen to join in: it's a great opportunity to try new things out on an enthusiastic audience!

On Sunday morning we continue rehearsing and after lunch we put on an informal ‘mini-show’, featuring all the numbers we've been working on, for a small local audience and visitors.

Accommodation at Urchfont is divided between four buildings: the Manor House; the Coach House, Seymour House and Fiddlers Cottage. All rooms except the cottage have en-suite accommodation.

If you want to find out more about TAKE TWENTY and our repertoire, please see our listing here under Choirs. (Apologies, but our website is down and being updated at the moment).
