St Cecilia Chorus, a well-established and ambitious choir based in Surrey, will be performing the recently reconstructed original version of Mendelssohnís Elijah in Chichester Cathedral on Saturday, 13th June 2009.
Join us for a term (in Surrey) for a special version of Elijah
This will be only the second performance of Derek Acockís edition, which is based on the first performance of Elijah conducted by the composer on 26th August 1846. (The edition usually performed dates from 1847).
St Cecilia welcomes choral singers (subject to a brief audition) who would like to join the choir for one term in order to take part in this performance. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings in Banstead, Surrey and will start on Thursday 16th April. A nominal fee of £25 will be charged and music will be available.
For further information please contact the Secretary, Bery Radford at Secretary@stceciliachorus.org.uk or telephone 020 8669 3472. Please also visit the web site www.stceciliachorus.org.uk.
The Choir's next performance is on Saturday 28th March at The Menuhin Hall, Stoke D'Abernon. We will be performing Mozart's Requiem and Bach's Missa Brevis in G major.
