The Salisbury & Westminster Liturgical Music Courses

The Salisbury Liturgical Music Course and the Westminster Liturgical Music Course 2010 are now taking bookings.

The Salisbury course will run from 19th - 25th July 2010. The main performance element will be the singing of the week's services in the Cathedral (six services of Choral Evensong and the Sunday Eucharist). The repertoire will focus on the way in which composers throughout the ages have elaborated the traditional music of the church - plainsong. We will sing a wide variety of styles, from "troping", through cantus firmus polyphony, to the lush chant-based music of C20 composers (Durufle, Wills etc).

The Westminster course will run from 15th - 20th August 2010. The main performance element will be the singing of four services of Choral Evensong in Westminster Abbey. The repertoire will focus on the great organist/composers of the Abbey - Purcell, Blow, Bullock, White etc.

The courses are open to all competent choral singers. Rehearsal CDs and sheet music are sent out well in advance. In addition to the rehearsals and performances both courses will include workshops, lecture/seminar session(s) and staff concert(s).
