Paid music director and choir chairman. can I?

Hi,

Does anyone know the ethics about whether I, as the paid Musical Director of a choir, can become Chairman of the choir? I would be interested in both factual answers or views that you all may have. I must add that I am on the committee and this does not seem to present any problems.
