Problems with New member signup page, Jan / Feb 2006

There are intermittent problems with the new member signup page (become a member) page. People report what happens as follows:

"I have entered all details to Become a Member, but when I try to Submit Form it takes me to the 'No Choirs Found' page, as though I was searching for a choir! "

"The following screen appears after submission of details. I've tried searching for the choir to see if the details have been entered and get this same message. However, some information must have been stored somewhere because each time I try to re-enter the information what I had entered previously flashes up the screen. I have not received an ID number, though, so each time I try I have to enter as for a new member.

No choirs Found

Sorry! We couldn't find any choirs for you.
The reason was : no matching records.

Please try again.
Hint : Try entering fewer search criteria. The more criteria you enter, the fewer choirs you will find."

At gerontius we know there is a problem, but we've been unable to replicate the problem - in other words when we try the screen it appears to work fine! So the problem must be linked to something else, although we don't know what at the moment. Some new members have joined the site over the last few weeks, although others have reported problems.

We've put in place an alternative screen which new members can use to apply. You can reach this screen from the Become a member screen or from here:

The usual become a member page (the one causing some people problems) is here:

We're not aware of any problems affecting existing members.
