Music Director required for Taunton Camerata chamber choir based in Taunton, Somerset
Music Director Required
Taunton Camerata is a friendly and enthusiastic amateur mixed voice choir of about 25 auditioned members. We were established in 1994 and are based in Taunton, Somerset. We wish to appoint a suitably qualified and energetic Musical Director to continue our development from January 2008.
The group enjoys performing music specifically suited to a small chamber choir and to a high standard. Camerata has developed a reputation for excellent performances of interesting and challenging programmes for singers, players and audiences alike. Our repertoire spans vocal works from the eleventh century to the present day, including several Baroque present day premieres with musicians drawn from professional period orchestras and ensembles.
We typically perform 4-6 concerts a year, plus occasional Cathedral Services and weddings. Generally we have an orchestral or ensemble accompaniment for at least two concerts per annum. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings. We are generally accustomed to working without an accompanist, with our Musical Director providing any accompaniment as necessary.
You should ideally have a wide experience in choral training and repertoire, with good orchestral knowledge. The remuneration will be negotiated. Please apply in writing or by email enclosing a C.V. and give full details of career and experience of working with choirs and orchestras, together with the contact details of a minimum of two referees to:
