NEW OXFORD CHOIR

I am looking to start a new choir in Oxford for singers of all abilities.

I ran and directed the University Singers, a choir at Reading University, for 3 years and am looking to get back into directing a choir that is just for fun.

If you don't want to sing Gospel or heavy classical music or the BIG classical works (requiems, masses etc...) but just want to get together with some like-minded people every week then this could be for you.

I plan for rehearsals to be on Weds or Thurs nights at 7pm till about 8.30pm, with a drink in the pub afterwards.

You don't have to be able to sing to any particular ability and you don't have to be able to read music. I plan to do fun arrangements of pop songs, general 4-part harmony songs and anything you fancy really!

I just want to find out if anyone is interested - I don't think this could work unless I get 12 or more people signed up.

The weekly charge would probably be £2 to cover photocopying and a box of biscuits at break time.

The venue for rehearsals might be University College on High Street but this is neither confirmed nor does it mean that the choir is affiliated with the University - this is a choir for the Oxford Community.

No formal concerts are planned as I want to find out what the choir would like to do as a whole.

So please, let me know if you'd be interested, what nights in the week are good, and if you could provide a more suitable venue for rehearsals. Day, time, membership fee and venue are all still up for consideration - I just need to know what would work for those that want to join before anything can be confirmed.

Look forward to hearing from you all.
