Whitacre conducts Whitacre: Live at Union Chapel

Composer, conductor and lecturer Eric Whitacre will conduct an all-Whitacre choral concert at London’s Union Chapel on Monday 2 August 2010 at 7:30 pm. Described as a ‘Pied Piper figure’ of music, Eric Whitacre has quickly become one of the most popular and performed composers of his generation. His ground-breaking Virtual Choir project of his piece Lux Aurumque has received over 1, 000, 000 hits on YouTube in just two months. In this rare treat for the United Kingdom, Eric will conduct on 2 August the newly formed Eric Whitacre Singers and Laudibus in a programme filled with many of his most popular works including Sleep, Lux Aurumque, Five Hebrew Love Songs, Cloudburst and Water Night prior to his recording with Decca.

Tickets: £20 General Admission (+£2.00 booking fee), £15 Concessions (+£1.50 booking fee). www.unionchapel.org.uk.

Whitacre returns to the UK in the Fall for a Fellowship at Cambridge University. In addition, he will conduct the London Symphony Chorus and Orchestra in October, and will be on the panel of judges for the televised final of the Choir of the Year competition at the Royal Festival Hall in November.
