Tenor wanted for the Lord Mayor's Chapel, Bristol

We need a tenor for the Lord Mayor's Chapel Choir in Bristol from September 2004. The choir is only 8-strong, but tackles 8-part anthems at times. Organist/choir master: Dr. John Marsh. One service each Sunday at 11.00 am, usually choral matins, with one choral eucharist each month. Extra bits and pieces at Christmas and Easter and occasional concerts (usually augmented to 16 singers). Rehearsals fortnightly on Thursdays, 6.15 - 7.15.

The Chapel is the only chapel owned by a civic authority in Britain, so choristers are council employees, since we are paid a measly pittance for our efforts!

The music is traditional cathedral fare for the most part - plenty of Stanford and Ireland with forays into less well-charted territories. The last matins before the choir broke up for August included Walton's Set me as a seal, Smith's Responses, Britten's Jubilate, Wood's O Thou the central orb, with a postlude of Rutter's Gaelic Blessing.

If you are interested or would like to know more, please contact John Marsh on 0117 9779504.
