The Maesbury Singers, North Somerset seek Musical Director

The Maesbury Singers are seeking an enthusiastic Conductor to succeed Nicholas Keyworth who will be leaving later this year. Applications are sought before the end of September 2004.

The choir was formed in 1988 and now consists of 18 singers. We currently rehearse weekly on a Monday at Stratton-on-the-Fosse, Somerset between 19.30 and 21.30 and give regular performances in the local area close to Wells. We also sing at occasional weddings.

There is some flexibility over rehearsal days and dates

SmileWe are a small, friendly, and ambitious mixed choir, and perform a wide repertoire ranging from a capella pieces to works accompanied by organ, piano, chamber orchestra or even samba band. We enjoy a challenge and have given several world premieres of exciting new and unusual pieces over the past few years.

We are seeking a conductor who will further develop our technical abilities, expand our musical repertoire, and hopefully also become a part of our social group. Pianistic skills for rehearsals would also be important.

The choir is a registered charity and pays professional fees for rehearsals and concerts.

Further information on the choir, together with details on recent concerts can be viewed on www.gerontius.net

For further details or to apply please contact the Chairman, Richard Wynn-Jones, by Email to richard.w22@ukonline.co.uk - If possible applicants should include a full CV and details of two referees.
