Veda Slovena Bulgarian Choir recruiting new singers

Veda Slovena Bulgarian Choir is a mixed-voice choir specialising in traditional Bulgarian secular and sacred music.

The choir is led by native Bulgarian singer Eugenia Georgieva who provides vocal training, choral advice and pronunciation coaching. Eugenia is a member of Natural Voice Practitioners' Network, who believe that everyone could and should sing, and has lead numerous Bulgarian workshops in London and at popular festivals. Her teaching style targets both individual voice production and choral skills development, weaving the unique Bulgarian vocal technique into the fabric of classical choral practices. Eugenia combines teaching by ear in the spirit of Bulgarian singing tradition with using scores and audio files. All lyrics are transliterated and translated.

The repertoire encompasses authentic antiphonal and diaphonic singing, modern 3 to 6 part arrangements and Orthodox chants, performed in original Bulgarian dialects and Church Slavonic. If you have a passion for stunning Bulgarian harmonies, we may be the right choir for you. As we are committed to keeping the standard high, you will be invited to pass a simple vocal assessment before you join.

The choir is currently recruiting all voice types. Sight-reading skills, knowledge of the language or previous experience of singing Bulgarian music are not required but dedication and enthusiasm is a must! The choir performs regularly, usually once a month. We are a hardworking and dedicated but friendly and vibrant group and enjoy great social time together.
Rehearsals every Wednesday, 19.00-21.00, University College London (nearest stations Euston/ Russell Square).
