STANDARD: INTERMEDIATE, ADVANCED
In this course the encouraging and experienced Graham Trew, aided by pianist Thomas Coltman (himself a professional singer), will help participants improve communication with audiences by gaining thoughtful insights into music, text and their relationship with one another. The idea is that your performance will then reflect these insights, and your performance thus enriched. We’ll discuss how technique can enhance interpretation and examine ways of removing the physical tensions that affect technique adversely. Bring three pieces in any style - they can be contrasting or complementary - and tutor Graham Trew will help you with them (though we don’t guarantee that he’ll be able to cover everything). We will also be discussing repertoire, programme building and audition techniques.
