Gloria! Sing at the Royal Albert Hall 9 July 2017

The Really Big Chorus, the UK’s largest choral society was formed in 1974 and its from Scratch® events continue to lead the field in choral concerts on a grand scale with as many as 3,500 singers taking part in our annual Messiah from Scratch® at the Royal Albert Hall, preceded by The Scratch® Youth Messiah (for singers aged 7-25).

We also have a May event, and a Summer Singday in July (always the ‘last night before the Proms’). The premise is straightforward: you learn the music, turn up, and sing! TRBC members also enjoy singing breaks in the cultural capitals of the world and a UK Summer School.

We’ve places available for singers in our 2017 Summer Singday on Sunday 9 July 2017 featuring three very different composers responses to the jubilant text of the Gloria from the Latin Mass. Vivaldi’s sparkling setting dates from the 18th century and is a much-loved classic of the choral repertoire. John Rutter CBE’s sparkling setting will be heard with its full orchestration and we end with the version by Karl Jenkins OBE, commissioned by us in 2010, and now performed regularly the world over.

There’s a workshop on Saturday 10 June too in central London with our principal conductor Brian Kay.
