New arrangements

Do I need permission to compose arrangements of simple hymn tunes? I have never been too sure of the copyright laws. If, as I suspect, you do, who do you approach for permission?

hi Jim,

As far as I know you don't need permission for arrangements e.g. for your own choir. Also a payed job for another choir shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't sell it as sheetmusic. To be sure perhaps you can ask Oxford themselves?
