Web hosts offering streaming audio

I'm looking for a web host that will enable people to hear streamed examples of the choir singing. Any suggestions for hosting companies that will do this competently and economically. Preferably UK based.

Regards,

Philip

Re: [ChesterStC] Web hosts offering streaming audio

Philip, You can stream Real audio from an ordinary http web server. See the audio examples on www.epsomchamberchoir.org.uk. There is some information about this here: http://service.real.com/help/library/guides/production/htmfiles/realsys.htm#34033 Streaming audio really racks up data transfer compared to plain html or images. It can be quite costly if your downloads are at all popular. Roger

Re: [ChesterStC] Web hosts offering streaming audio

Image 247 (www.image247.co.uk) offer a fantastic deal on webspace for just 14.99 for the first year, then just 4.99 annually. Unlimited downloads and server storage space - at least a quarter of what other companies will offer with restrictive limits.

My choir uses them for hosting: visit www.stmarkschoir.co.uk to have a look at what you can do. The site was created using Image 247's online webpage creator which turns out professional looking webpages in a flash, and they're easy to update and edit.

Full details for the package is at http://www.image247.co.uk/whois/check.html or the chap on the end of the Freephone number was a great help and got me up and running very quickly. Can't recommend these people enough!
