The London Community Gospel Choir run Workshop Choir courses for all those of you who are keen to learn a bit more about GOSPEL music
Learn how to sing GOSPEL!
The community workshop choir runs for three 8-week terms per year; for anyone who would like to learn to gospel singing. Through the course you will learn how to sing as a gospel choir, in unison and harmony, with accompaniment and a cappella. You will learn the foundations of vocal techniques, understand voice production, learn performance skills and choir choreography alongside a varied gospel repertoire! There is an end of term performance.
There are different classes depentant upon experience:
Beginners Class - No previous experience of choral singing needed; or you may have some experience of choral singing but want to learn gospel choral style. You will learn vocal techniques: breathing control and support, voice placement, tone and articulation, ear-tuning, harmonising and rhythm. No auditions necessary at this level. Course Fee £110
Intermediate Class - You may have some experience of Gospel choral singing and wish to extend your knowledge. You should demonstrate a good ability in vocal techniques: breathing control and support, voice placement, tone and articulation, ear-tuning, harmonising and rhythm. You will be challenged to extend your abilities to an advanced level. Auditions necessary at this level. Course Fee £130 Audition Fee £10
Advanced Class - You will have substantial experience of gospel choral singing. You should demonstrate: controlled breathing and support; good pitching; consistent vocal range; good use of resonance, tone, articulation and vocal agility; harmonic constructions. Participants ideally would have completed an Intermediate Class. You will learn close harmony work and lead singing. Auditions necessary at this level. Course Fee £150 Audition Fee £10
Gospel Solo Voice - You will be a professional singer or embarking on a professional /semi-professional singing career. You should demonstrate good skills in breathing control and support; good pitching; consistent vocal range; good use of resonance, tone, articulation and vocal agility; harmonic constructions. The course will include riffing & ad-libbing, choreography, performance skills and microphone techniques. Auditions necessary at this level Course Fee £200 Audition Fee £10
