New Musical Director - Brighton Chamber Choir

The Brighton Chamber Choir is seeking an experienced Choral Conductor as Musical Director to succeed Paul Brough who leaves in March 2004 after we perform Dvorak’s Stabat Mater at St Peter’s Church, Brighton. The closing date for applications is end-January 2004.

The BCC was formed in 1995 and exists to "promote, improve, develop and maintain public education ... of ... choral music."

The choir, made up of up to forty choir members divided equally between SSATB, rehearses weekly on a Wednesday in Brighton between 8 and 10pm and gives regular performances in the local area. Rehearsal time is arranged to coincide with school terms (i.e. we do not rehearse during the school holidays). We perform a cappella, with organ accompaniment, and with a chamber orchestra. Admission to the choir follows a successful audition with the Conductor.

The choir supports Brighton Festival Fringe each May, and this year performed Spirit of Nature - 'Sights and Sounds of Summer' which included the BCC commission 'Butterfly Dreams' by Sir John Tavener.

Please refer to our website www.brightonchamberchoir.org.uk for further information about us and use the contact form to register your interest in conducting us.
Alternatively please contact The Chairman, Tony Hawkey.
