Musical Director, Bridport Choral Society

The Bridport Choral Society is an enthusiastic mixed choir of some 40, non auditioned, SATB voices. The choir is seeking a new musical director to inspire and raise the profile of the choir in the community. The current musical director will retire at the end of 2007 but the choir will look at candidates available from September, 2007. This should allow a seamless hand-over period. The choir generally performs two concerts each year, one being a carol concert, the other being a mixture of music. The proceeds are passed to local charities.
The new Musical Director should have formal musical and choral training as well as having keyboard proficiency. The new M.D. should be willing to work with the committee, as an ex officio member, to prepare varied and interesting concerts as well as contributing to future plans. The position carries a small stipend.
The choir rehearses weekly (except summer months) on Monday evenings in Bridport.
