Somerset Chamber Choir welcomes new singers Can't Post

Somerset Chamber Choir is recruiting new singers - all voice parts, but Sopranos and Basses are especially welcome!

We are a friendly choir of about 60 singers. We do not hold weekly rehearsals, but have 6 intensive rehearsal weekends per year, performing 3 concerts annually to a very high standard (usually a big concert in Wells Cathedral with professional orchestra in summer, one in Kings College Chapel, Taunton in January/February, and a third in a parish church somewhere in Somerset in late September - this year 'Celestial Sounds' on 30th September in All Saints Church, Weston-super-Mare - see concert listing for details).

Because of the nature of the rehearsals, members travel hundreds of miles from all over the country to attend rehearsals, which itself speaks volumes about the choir. We do however, like our members to have links with Somerset, or its neighbours, to stay true to our name and heritage.

Prospective new members are invited to attend a rehearsal day, and then audition for the Musical Director (Graham Caldbeck) at the end of the day - this is not too daunting, and simply invloves singing your line from some of the music we have been rehearsing during the day.

Good sight-reading skills and a good level of musicianship are essential, as is a voice of pure tone and ability to blend well, to maintain the high standards of the choir.

If you are interested, please email recruitment[at]somersetchamberchoir.org.uk (replace [at] with @), or apply through our website at www.somersetchamberchoir.org.uk
