[url]"Organum" is a mixed medium-sized choir established in 1996 with Rosalyn Hodson as our musical director. We rehearse three programmes a year, performing mainly in village churches around Bath and sometimes in churches in the city itself. Recent programmes have inclued Bach's "Sleepers Wake", Brahms "Requiem", Britten's "Ceremony of Carols", Charperntier's "Messe de Minuit", Handel's "Messiah", Haydn's "Creation", "Nelson Mass" and "Maria Theresa Mass, Mendelssohn's "Elijah", Mozart's "Requiem", Rutter's "Requiem" and "Magnificat", Vivaldi's "Gloria", Malcolm Archer's"Love Unknown", Christopher Tambling's "Hail! Redeemer Dvorak's "Stabat Mater" and shorter works by Purcell, Haydn, Stainer, Elgar, Pergolesi, Borodin and Rutter. We have contributed to a number of local charities and church development funds through our performances.
We welcome new members of all ages in all parts, but particularly at this moment sopranos as several of our singers from that section have recently moved away from the Bath area. There are no formal auditions. Further detasils may be obtained from the Chairman, Rodney Priest on 01225 742042. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 to 9.30 p.m. in the church hall of St. John's, Bathwick. Current subscription is £50 per annum or £25 to anyone joining us who is 25 years old or under.
On Saturday 19th January '08 at 7.30 p.m. we shall be singing Mozart's "Solemn Vespers" and Vivaldi's "Gloria" at the Nexus Methodist Church in Walcot in the East of Bath City. Tickets at £7 (children free) can be reserved by calling the chairman or they can be had on the door.
On Saturday 15th March we shall [i]sing a Passiontide devotional concert featuring Stainer's "Crucifixion" at Weston Methodist Church in the West of Bath City. Rehearsals for this concert commence on Tuesday 22nd January '08.
