TENORS AND BASSES REQUIRED

RENCONTRES MUSICALES DE FIGEAC (46): SUMMER SCHOOL AND CONCERTS: MOZART'S REQUIEM.

Tenors and Basses needed to complete a choir of 40-50 choristers (including several British expatriates) from 8/9 to 17 August 2008. Knowledge and experience of the score essential. The annual festival "Les Rencontres Musicales" in Figeac is well established after several years.(See www.festivaldefigeac.com).

One of the public performances each year is given by the pupils of a Summer Singing School run at the Ecole de Musique, to coincide with the Festival. The choral work to be prepared at the 2008 Summer School for two public presentations is Mozart's Requiem.

The Summer School is for any amateur chorister who currently sings with a choir and wants to improve his or her voice and technique. Sessions will include individual exploration of vocal technique with a singing teacher, group work , work on the musical piece selected and, ultimately, performance as a choir in the Festival Programme with a full orchestra, soloists and Director, all professional musicians. The Choral Summer School will be led by FABRICE MAURIN, a professional baritone of note in France, singing teacher and musical Director of two choirs.

Some extra plus factors: ô A rigorous Summer School conducted in good humour with a charismatic Director, ô Free/low cost access to several evening concerts in outstanding settings with the Festival. ô The chance to visit a region known for its welcome to tourists ô A region renowned for its gastronomy.

Summer School Costs: 175 euros per head. Accommodation and meals at the individual's cost.

Contact David Forsyth, a British chorister on 00 33 6 32 96 63 14 or on forsyths@club-internet.fr for a preliminary discussion prior to a discussion with the Musical Director.
