2009 is the Year of the Rubaiyat. It marks the 200 year anniversary of Edward FitzGerald's birth and the 150 year anniversary of the first publication of his poem, The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. To celebrate, composer Jim Gadzik has set FitzGerald's first translation to music for SATB chorus with piano accompaniment. The work is 40 minutes long.
