Gurrelieder - Philharmonia Voices seeks experienced tenors and basses Can't Post

Philharmonia Voices, the professional choir that works with the Philharmonia Orchestra on selected projects, seeks experienced (non-professional) tenors and basses to join the choir for two performances of Schoenberg's epic Gurrelieder in February 2009. The performances, in Birmingham's Symphony Hall (27 Feb) and London's Royal Festival Hall (28 Feb), will be conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen with an international line-up of soloists. Simon Halsey will be the principal chorus master, assisted by Aidan Oliver. The Festival Hall performance will be recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

There are vacancies for 40 amateur tenors and basses of a high calibre (20 of each) to sing alongside 48 professional tenors and basses from Philharmonia Voices, together with the ladies of the City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus. Places in the choir will be awarded by audition, with auditions to take place in London in January. Please note that applicants will need to be available for all rehearsals.

Full details of the schedule, and information about the audition process, are available on the attached Word document. Applications for auditions are requested by Tuesday 6 January, with auditions taking place the following week.
