2nd bass vacancy Can't Post

The dynamic vocal octet the Blossom Street Singers (www.blossomstreetsingers.com) has a vacancy for a 2nd bass.

The group specialises in performing a wide range of music which is tailored to the audience or venue - from jazz and pop arrangements to well-loved classical favourites to premieres of newly commissioned works. A typical programme might include popular classics like Elgar’s Nimrod and Barber’s Adagio, jazz standards, Lauridsen’s O Magnum Mysterium and the ‘Friends’ theme tune. In December 2005, Blossom Street filmed a medley of Christmas carols for BBC2, which was broadcast during the snooker championship final, and since then has performed nationwide. Last November, the group sang to Prince Charles on ITV1. Further details of the ensemble can be found on the website.

Our schedule is currently planned until August, and comprises a mixture of concerts and gigs, some of which are paid, some of which are charity concerts, and some of which we take a percentage of the ticket proceeds as payment. It works out at around one or two performances a month, although at Christmas it tends to be daily! We’re looking for a permanent member who’s happy to perform regardless of fee, from the lucrative corporate events and music club concerts (we have one such concert coming up in Warwickshire) to the unpaid charity concerts (next summer, we will be the main event for Cancer Research UK). We do however have a number of deputies who sing with us, so a job share in a project based way may be possible.

If you enjoy singing a range of repertoire, have excellent performance and sight reading skills, and are comfortable singing a wide range of repertoire from the Beatles to Pearsall (and don’t mind mm bopping in most of the jazz rep!), please contact Hilary Campbell at voicebox@hotmail.co.uk
