Hello Friends in Song! While many of us are predominately involved in choral music, many also enjoy and perform in other capacities. As some of you know, for the past ten years, I have been involved with an extraordinary, international voice project in Italy each summer. Participants have joined from Australia, many parts of Europe, England, Bermuda, Canada, and the USA. I have placed information about the workshop below, along with the web site. Please contact me if you have any questions, if you would like more information, or if you would like a brochure mailed to you. The project fills each year..there are still several spaces remaining and I wanted to pass this information along to you and members of your chorus. Enjoy the day and fill it with song! Gail Zarren <zarren@cove.com> or <gailzarren@yahoo.com> * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * THE TUSCANY PROJECT: VOICE & SONG 12TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP IN ITALY JUNE 27 - JULY 9, 2004 Tuscany Project: Voice & Song will be held once again in Italy at Locanda del Gallo, near Perugia. This will be the 12th year that 24 international participants gather to explore their singing in more depth. The workshop offers opportunity to explore voice and song with with an exceptional international faculty representing the vocal, theater, and movement arts. Classes include exploratory voice work, individual song work, theater work. movement, and group singing. Students explore their natural responses to sound and movement to discover how this can be useful in the performance of songs; they explore the use of their voices, and explore the various ways of presenting a song to connect more profoundly with oneself and with an audience. All of this leads to an increased awareness of "presence." The songs that most people bring to work on are Cabaret, jazz, musical theater, some folk tunes since these genres lend themselves to an exploration of subtext and one's personal connection with it. The villa, Locanda del Gallo (www.locandadelgallo.it), where the project is held is truly a piece of heaven high in the Umbrian hills. Three sumptuous,al fresco meals and lodging are included in the tuition. All levels of adult singers are welcome. More information about the project can be found on the Tuscany Project website: http://w3.one.net/~jwclymer/tuscany.html Or contact: Gail Zarren <zarren@cove.com> or <gailzarren@yahoo.com>
