Approaching its 12th anniversary, for 2009 the Festival "Les Rencontres Musicals de Figeac" is building its choral programme around 2 performances of excerpts of most of the choral pieces from the Messiah. Choral direction will be by well known French Baritone and Choral Director, Fabrice Maurin. The Orchestra will be provided by the talented young musicians undergoing master-classes.
The Messiah in Figeac in August 2009: 8-15th
Full details in English are on http://www.festivaldefigeac.com/
The longer date span concerns only the instrumentalists. Choristers are needed from 8-15th with the concerts on the last 2 evenings. Both concerts are in magnificent settings.
Hidden benefits of this Festival are free access to a top quality concert every evening for participants in the Festival, the sheer beauty of the area and the excellence of the food and wine.
We are going back after an excellent Mozart Requiem last year; for those who want to work hard to achieve a level of excellence in choral performance but to do so in excellent humour and fun, this is one not to miss. It is not too late; 30-35 folks, including some British singers, have already registered.
