Gospel Choir Workshop Starting Soon!!!! Can't Post

Singing Workshop for Fun!

Do something different, Learn new skills. Meet new People.
Complete beginners are most welcome!

Starts Tuesday 13th October 2009
7pm

Have you ever wanted to do something different after work maybe? Or be a part of something great! An extra activity apart from the gym?

Have you watched films like ‘Sister Act ‘and ‘Fighting Temptations’? Here is your chance to be part of a gospel style choir! Maybe you are already part of a singing group/choir at your church or maybe are in your own pop band. In this workshop you will meet like minded people who have the desire to sing together as one.

You must be over 18 years old or over. Skin colour, Race/Ethnicity or musical background will definitely not stop you from joining us, just as long as you have the desire to learn and sing then you are more than welcome!

We like to think that we become one big family in these workshops as we learn and sing in a friendly, none offensive atmosphere right in the heart of London (where it’s easier for most to travel to).

As mentioned, no previous experience of choral singing needed; or you may have some experience of choral singing but want to learn more about gospel choral style singing.

Your music workshop coach has sung on ‘East enders’!! –Read more about her way below.

You will learn:

How to control your voice correctly, how to breath correctly when singing, how to get different tones to come out. How to soften or harden the sound of your notes when singing, how to make them louder and powerful yet consistent, how to harmonise in three parts or maybe more, how to listen out for other parts and your own part, how to add movement to your singing to make you a performer as well as a singer and lastly how to have fun while doing it all!

You must watch the video of the choir below. It is the choir that your workshop coach teaches so you get a good idea of what she can achieve through you. It will help you understand how you will maybe look and sound with others. You will see that the choir in this video are having fun and look like one big family. Also try and listen to how they sound with the three part harmony (you will learn what this is if you don’t know). Remember that what they are singing is a little advance but you will sound just as good with the songs you will learn.

Techniques you will learn:

Vocal Techniques
Breathing control and support
Voice placement
Tone and articulation
Harmonising and Rhythm.
Learn how to sing as a gospel choir, in unison and harmony, with accompaniment and a cappella (no music).
Foundations of vocal techniques,
Understand voice production,
Learn performance skills and choir choreography alongside a varied gospel repertoire!
And at the end we may be able to perform to friends and family concert style!

This may sound like a lot and it is, it can take years and years to master and understand all of the above but with the help of your workshop coach it will be made simple and clear to so that you get a really good grounding in just 8 weeks.

So, who will teach you?

She has done it all… yes she’s sung on all these programs and shows below.

‘East enders’

Appearance on TV film starring Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley of Harry Potter) and Julie Walters

Did we mention accompaniment?

Well it wouldn’t sound the same if there was no music, so we have a great keyboard/piano player who will play along side the singers. He recently played on a live BBC radio morning show. He plays in some of the biggest gospel events that happen all over the country! He plays with many bands and plays different styles from Pop-reggae-gospel.

So you will truly have a great experience with all these great people injecting you with music of the highest quality.

How long is the workshop?

A Singing workshop ‘Gospel style’ that runs from 7pm-9pm every Tuesday for 8-weeks. This kind of workshops usually cost £150 each person per session (one session is usually 2 hrs) but as this is enjoyment, fun and for an understanding of gospel music, we only charge £120 for the full eight weeks!! Yes so that means you get 2 hours a week for eight weeks for just £120! If we break this down further this means you are only paying £7.50 an hour! This is ridiculously low. Nowadays it cost you over 20 pounds for just one hours singing lesson. So tell your friends to join in with you. Like we mentioned you will learn a lot and have fun all at the same time.
Your workshop coach is fun, interactive, loves singing and loves teaching!

We promise you would want to do another gospel singing workshop after joining this one. We can only take a maximum of 30 people so the faster you contact us the better, in fact the faster you book, the better.

Where is it going to happen?

We have tried to get a central location so its easier and more convenient for all to get to. Also this venue has the essential equipment we need to run this workshop. Also this centre has holds many great gospel/music concerts in its main hall. So it’s a great place full of gospel singing culture.

The address is below:

The Advent Centre
Brendon Street
Westminster
London
W1H 5JE

Nearest Tube: Edgeware Road

So we hope you can join us soon as we are limited to the number of people that can attend.
