Fresh from premieres in Oxford, London and the USA, celebrated contemporary composer Bob Chilcott leads a workshop for singers on his new work, Requiem. Saturday 27th March - 11am-5pm St Michael's Church, Bishop's Stortford. Adults £10, children £5, music provided free of charge. Chilcott’s compositions, including ‘Be thou my vision’ and ‘The Lily and the Rose’ are well-established in the contemporary choral repertoire, and are appreciated by singers for their melodic lines and eminent ‘singability’. The composer has just completed his Requiem, which will première in Oxford on 13th March, and in the USA on 21st March. The very next weekend, the composer himself will bring this exciting new work to St Michael’s Church, Bishop’s Stortford. This is a unique opportunity to sing a brand new work, which will undoubtedly soon form part of the established choral repertoire alongside Requiems by Rutter, Fauré, Duruflé and Mozart. Bob Chilcott is a vibrant and inspiring director who knows how to get a group of singers singing their best. The workshop promises to improve singers’ technique in an enjoyable way, while learning an exciting new piece of repertoire at the hands of the composer himself. The day will run from 11am until 5pm (registration from 10am), finishing with a performance of the work with invited soloists. Tea and cake will be served, but participants should bring a packed lunch. To reserve your place: visit: www.saintmichaelweb.org.uk email music@saintmichaelweb.org.uk or phone 08444 871333
