On Saturday September 18th at 7.30pm, Renaissance vocal ensemble Siglo de Oro will present a programme of Franco-Flemish masterpieces at St James, Sussex Gardens, W2 3UD (very close to both Lancaster Gate and Paddington tube stations). The centrepiece of the concert will be Orlande de Lassus' rarely-heard Requiem for Five Voices, but it will also include motets by three generations of composers from Flanders and Northern France: Thomas Crecquillon's 'Lamentations of Jeremiah', Clemens non Papa's 'Ego flos campi', and Adrian Willaert's 'Ave Maria'. In the beautiful setting of St James' church, with its exceptional acoustic for choral music, this will be an evening of exquisite Franco-Flemish polyphony that is not to be missed. Tickets, £12 (£10 concessions) are available from siglodeoro@hotmail.com, 07984 449 937 and on the door.
