Singing in a Choir - how and where to start

Hello, I love singing, like most humans do, but dont have a very good voice. I sang in the primary school choir and in a few mass choirs while in uni. I got in beacuse of my enthusiasm and because I did what i was told. I am interested in joining a choir. My problem (and that of many others, i suspect) is I honestly believe I would not fit into any of the choirs that are advertising in the Belfast area (I live in Lisburn), because I certainly am not what they are looking for. I feel i could do with a little practice to the level that I would not hold the choir back. Plus I cannot read musical scores. Do choirs generally allow new entrants to just sit in for a few weeks to "learn the ropes" etc ? Any good internet resources to get me started ? Thanks LarryBee
