Thames Baroque Workshops St Cecilia Workshop Sunday, November 20th, 2011 Time: 10 am [Registration and coffee] to 5 30 pm Venue: Bourne End Community Centre [Car park and Bar available] Conductor MICHAEL SANDERSON has performed as a free-lance musician specialising in the baroque and renaissance repertoire since graduating in music from Nottingham University in 1986. He sang as a soloist with Opera Restor’d for over ten years. As a tenor and baroque violinist, Michael is a member of various chamber groups including Musica Donum Dei, Café Mozart and The Windsor Box and Fir Company. In 2000 Michael formed Renaissance Voices, an amateur choir which performs three concerts every year with a professional instrumental group. In addition to his free-lance work, Michael is Head of Student Music at Brunel University, a part time post which involves conducting both singers and instrumentalists. Repertoire: Ode for St Cecilia’s Day 1683 “Hail! Bright Cecilia” H Purcell Ode for St Cecilia’s Day 1739 G F Handel Singers, both soloists and choir [Soloists please let me know which aria/s you are preparing] The orchestra [at 415 with gut strings preferably] will include strings, flutes/recorders, oboes, trumpets, timpani, bassoon and continuo, All music to be provided. To check scores before you come, have a look at the International Music Score Library Project/Petrucci Music Library online. Bring a packed lunch or use local pubs. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available throughout the day. Visitors welcome at 4 pm for our playthrough. The fee for the day is £15, cheques payable to `Thames Baroque Workshops`.
