OPPORTUNITY FOR CHORAL SINGERS
BRISTOL OLD VIC

CORAM BOY is a Bristol Old Vic production which will be performed at Colston Hall for Christmas 2011.

Music is central to the show, which features an original score which is Baroque in style and features excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, including the Hallelujah chorus.

The score will be sung by both the actors and a large four-part choir which will be present onstage behind the action throughout the show. Bristol Old Vic is looking to cast the choir with singers from the local area.

Singers will need to be able to read music. The score will be sung from memory during performances.

Time Commitment

To be involved in the show each individual must be able to commit to a minimum of 5 of the 15 performances.

The choir are needed from the beginner’s call until the end of the show for each performance. Running time approx. 2hrs50min including a 30min interval.

The choir sings for around 40% of the show.

Dates

October – December: the choir learn the score in liaison with the musical director and his team. 3 x 4hr music rehearsals, 1 x 4hr coordination rehearsal with the cast. Dates and times to suit the choir, weekends and evenings if desirable.

December 19th and 20th 10am – 10pm and 21st 10am – 5pm: technical and dress rehearsals – choir will need to be present throughout although they will not be working for the entire duration as scenes will be called chronologically.

December 21st – December 30th (excluding 25th): performances (at Colston Hall): Wednesday 21st 7pm only, Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd 2pm and 7pm, Saturday 24th 2pm only, Monday 26th 4pm only, Tuesday 27th – Friday 30th 2pm and 7pm.
