Hi forum members I am still trying to find a version of the Magnificat that I sang when aged 12 or 13 in 1963 or 64. (See previous message in 2008). I know that it was sung in English and the word rejoiced was repeated in the second line. "My soul doth magnify the Lord and my spirit hath rejoiced, rejoiced in God my Saviour, For he hath regarded the lowliness of his handmaiden, I am not sure about exact wording after this. I know the music but don't know who wrote it and would very much like to find out. Does anyone have a good knowledge of English Choral music? Could anyone suggest a way I could find out who wrote the music. When I sang this, and parts of Britten's Ceremony of Carols, it was performed by pupils of Roke Secondary Modern School near Purley in Surrey around Christmas time in 1963 or 64 I think, where I was a student. I believe the music teacher at the school organized and conducted the concert. Roke Secondary Modern School is on the Godstone Road and is now Oakwood Independent School and Nursery. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated. Many thanks and a Happy Christmas to you all. Richard Miller
