I would like to take the time to tell you about our upcoming free Choral Workshop on 10th March 2012 and we invite men of all ages and abilities whether complete novices or existing male choristers.

If you have an interest in music and a love for singing and wondered just what it would be like to sing with a choir, then this is your chance to come along and find out what its all about and learn how to develop your vocal technique.
For those who belong to an existing choir or have sung with a choir in the past, you are welcome to come along and find out more about Canoldir. We recently won Best UK Choir and Best Large Choir at the Cornwall International Male Choral Festival 2011 and we invite you to come along and learn the secrets of our success; we would love to share them with you.
There has been a marked decrease in the numbers of male singers in all forms of choral groups and in particular the membership of male choirs has been declining for a number of years leading to the closure of many well-established choirs in this area and throughout the country.In addition to this there has been some research into the health benefits of singing and many people believe that the process of singing can have a positive effect, not only on some physical health issues but also on improving the general feeling of wellbeing.

The free workshop, led by Musical Director James Llewelyn Jones, has been designed to help develop individual performance using a variety of techniques and to introduce people to the experience of choral singing first hand.
James Jones has been the Musical Director of Canoldir Male Choir for five years, during which time has led the choir to success winning number of prestigious competitions. He has also conducted other choirs including 11 years with the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain and has had extensive experience working as a choral clinician with choirs nationally and internationally.
On the day we will provide a pack of information with details of various choirs within the Midlands region such as male, mixed voice and operatic and give advice on how to select a suitable choir to join.
So come along and learn a song with the choir, develop your vocal techniques and make new friends.

The Vocal Workshop is from 2.00pm to 4.30pm, which includes a 30 minute break for light refreshments and a chance to chat and get to know our existing choir members.
