Renaissance Song of Songs with Siglo de Oro Can't Post

Patrick Allies and members of Siglo de Oro are leading a workshop on Renaissance settings of the Song of Songs on Saturday October 27th at St James', Sussex Gardens, W2 3UD, from 10.30am-4.30pm.

The Song of Songs is one of the shortest books in the Old Testament, but it contains some of the most extraordinary verses found in the bible. Sixteenth century composers across Europe were clearly stimulated by this text, as it inspired some of their finest sacred music. The programme for the day will include Sicut lilium by Antoine Brumel, Nigra sum by Jean l’Héritier, Ego flos campi by Clemens non Papa, Surge, propera amica mea by Sebastián de Vivanco and Osculetur me by G. P. da Palestrina. Places on the workshop cost £15, and bookings can be made by email to siglodeoro@hotmail.co.uk
