SINGING GROUP BASED DOVER/DEAL, KENT SEEKS TALENTED YOUNGSTERS AGED 9-18 Can't Post

A small group of experienced young singers aged 9-18 singing at grade 3 level up* led by Kingsdown music teacher Madeleine Cordes set up in August 2012 singing all genres from music theatre, pop, soul, gospel to classical and acapella including equal solo and duet opportunities, rehearsing and performing at high profile events and venues in the Dover, Deal and East Kent area.

* there are always two spots for training members of the group not singing at this level who are keen to learn and love singing

So far we have already performed as a group or selected members as required at Great Farthingloe Farm wedding venue in Dover, the Kent Miners Festival in Aylesham, La Trappiste restaurant in Canterbury, an Oddfellows Club supper in Dover, a quarterly Live Lounge event in Kingsdown, an open mic organised by YMS music school in Canterbury, solo spots with the Snowdown Colliery Male Voice Choir in Canterbury, as members of the Holst Planet Suite chorus of the London Youth Symphony Orchestra in London, a regular booking at Age UK in Dover and are booked for

- the Christmas lights switch on in Dover on 24 November
- Christmas carolling at Tamerisk boutique in Deal on 29 November
- an Italian supper evening at Dunkerley's in Deal
- a Christmas shopping/pamper evening in Ash on 1st December and
- a joint concert with the new Landmark Show Choir in Deal on 8th December featuring instrumentalists, readings by Jane Clarke, local children's author (jane-clarke.co.uk) and a caricaturist (beedrawn.co.uk).

Maddie understands the numerous commitments of the youngsters coupled with school work - singers do not need to commit to all performances but take part according to availability and their other educational or performing arts commitments. Some performances may be paid. There is no fee to belong to the group except expenses for music, tracks, photocopying and room hire where needed.

Adult mentor musicians and teachers support the group and individuals in rehearsal and performance. Individual singing lessons can be provided by Maddie and mentors as required on an ad hoc basis. The group commits to ad hoc rehearsals which take place early evening at weekends typically in Kingsdown or Dover in preparation for our busy ongoing concert and gig programme. Music scores and backing tracks are provided for singers to work on in between rehearsals. Singing workshops and masterclasses are also arranged. We have just held a workshop at half term (with a small fee and open to the public) on performance preparation: we covered stage etiquette, conquering your nerves, choosing repertoire, getting to know your character and the song and enhancing your performance.

Contact Maddie on 01304 239055/07584 370374 if you would like to know more, book an informal audition or book the group for an event.
