WILD MYRTLES LOOKING FOR NEW SINGER Can't Post

The Wild Myrtles (Edinburgh-based, seven voice, female a cappella singers) are looking for a new singer. Our repertoire is varied: folk songs from Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and Scotland; jazz songs from 1920 to 1950; songs from 13th century to 21st century – much of it arranged specially for us. We’ve released two CDs: Rare and beautiful and Songcatcher.

We need someone who can read music and can learn new songs quickly; we perform all our songs off by heart. Good sight-reading would be advantageous but is not essential.

Most important is that you enjoy singing: in harmony, in foreign languages, in pubs, around Scotland and beyond! Some of our recent gigs: BBC Radio Scotland; France; Finland; Traquair, Kelburn Castle, Arran, Crail (festivals); St Giles Cathedral, Ross Bandstand (Princes St Gardens), Boda Bar (all in Edinburgh).

We rehearse in Edinburgh on Tuesday evenings. You can hear some of our music here:

" … intricately crafted arrangements and evident ensemble empathy created a shifting succession of radiant soundscapes, from the harmonies' otherworldly shimmer in the Nordic and Balkan songs to jazz, madrigal and barbershop elements… " The Scotsman
