CoMA Singers - sing contemporary vocal music in London Can't Post

CoMA is setting up a regular vocal group of experienced singers dedicated to contemporary classical works. We aim to establish a strong group of singers who rehearse and perform regularly, predominantly a cappella choral works but sometimes with instruments and including some solo/small ensemble repertoire. We will be commissioning new works as well as exploring established repertoire and pieces by CoMA composers and associates. The group, CoMA Singers, will reinforce as well as supplement the established CoMA Voices programme.

For this first event we will meet up for five rehearsals; we will perform about 15 minutes of a cappella music within the CoMA London’s concert on Tuesday 4th March 2014 (details below), celebrating International Women’s Day with works by female composers.

The cost is £25 each (£5 per rehearsal) and you will also need to be a member of CoMA (£20 per year or £10 if this is your first CoMA event).

Singers must be competent and confident to:
• Sight read
• Tackle unusual vocal techniques and pieces
• Work and prepare by themselves between rehearsals

All rehearsals and the performance are at St. Leonard’s Church, Shoreditch High Street, London E1 6JN. Rehearsals are:
• Tuesdays 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th February, 19:00 to 21:30
• Saturday 1st March (daytime, details to be confirmed)
• Tuesday 4th March, 18:00 to 19:00 followed by the performance at 20:00

Please contact Janet Oates (janet.oates@btinternet.com) to book or for more details – and spread the word among your singer friends!
