Russian Choir in central Brighton welcomes new members

The Brighton & Hove Russian choir in central Brighton welcome new members. Come and join for a taster session before summer ends - 16 and 23 June!
The choir is open to all backgrounds and singing levels and you can join any time. No knowledge of Russian is required. All song texts are available with translations, transliterations and sheet music.
Venue: Brighthelm Centre, North Road, Brighton, BN1 1YD in the Hanover Room (2nd floor) - only a few minutes walk from Brighton Station or from the Clock Tower in central Brighton.
Schedule: Mondays 7 – 9 pm weekly with summer and winter breaks plus occasional performances.
Fee: Monthly, calculated on the basis of £5 per session, payable on the first session of the month. First ‘taster’ session for new members is £5, payable on the night.

The B&H Russian choir promotes Russian harmony singing and traditional Russian repertoire: lyrical and epic songs, ritual calendar music for pagan holidays,wedding songs and weeping songs, Russian Orthodox church music, classical XIX century romance, choral pieces by classical composers.
The choir was founded in January 2009 and has a busy performance schedule. We’ve sung at the Victoria and Albert Museum as part of Treasures of the Royal Courts: Tudors, Stuarts and the Russian Tsars, London Maslenitsa on Trafalgar Square, Brighton Early Music Festival, Steyning Festival (2012, 2013), Brighton Bandstand programme, Russian Art House for Brighton Christmas Open Houses, Sussex University for the Russian Society, for GB-Russia Society in London, Brighton Dome Christmas fair, Hove Town Hall and many other events and venues.
Everything is sung in Russian but we carefully translate the texts and talk about the history and context of each piece. Cyrillic script, transliteration and translation are all available. The group brings together music lovers of all backgrounds and singing levels with or without any knowledge of Russian language and culture.
