COMMUNITY CHOIR CONDUCTOR WANTED

DOVER HOUSE SINGERS

We are an enthusiastic and sociable group of singers (SATB/SAAB) who meet each Wednesday (term time) from 8pm to 9.15pm at St Margaret’s Church in Putney Park Lane, Putney, London SW15.

We sing a mixture of a cappella and accompanied music.

Our wonderful conductor is moving on at the end of December 2014 after taking on new professional commitments which will put significant additional demands on his time.

We are therefore looking for an enthusiastic new conductor to start at the beginning of January 2015.

Remuneration will be paid (arrangements to be discussed but a guideline figure based on current numbers is £80 per session)

If you are interested please submit a CV to Susanna Russell-Smith at doverhousesingers@gmail.com <mailto:doverhousesingers@gmail.com>

Please include details of any relevant experience, together with an indication of your approach to working with community choirs and a brief explanation of how you would like to take us forward.

For more information or clarification contact

· Susanna on 020 8788 1447 at any time (except between 27/9 & 4/10/14) or

· Grazyna on 020 7736 5885 between 10am and 6pm Monday to Saturday

Trial half-hour sessions for applicants begin on Wednesday, 15th October, continuing through November.

Closing date for applications is 31st October 2014.

Background information

The Dover House Singers was formed as a community choir in 2005, and has grown from around 20 to 30 -40 singers within the last two years. It is a non-auditioned choir which sings music of all styles including Classical, Folk, World and Popular music. We sing both a cappella and accompanied pieces (piano).

We usually perform at least one evening concert at St Margaret’s Church each year and participate at various other local events. Three recordings of songs from our April 2014 Concert can be found by scrolling down the Home page of our website: www.doverhousesingers.co.uk

Our group is currently under the direction of the Head of Music at Kingston Grammar School who will shortly have been with us for 2 years. Before that we were under the direction of an experienced conductor who studied at the Royal Academy of Music, and also sang at Southwark Cathedral before returning to Australia after 3 years with us.
