Workshop: Buxtehude's Membra Jesu nostri Can't Post

Saturday March 5th at the Geffrye Museum, London.

Join Patrick Allies and members of professional choir Siglo de Oro for a three-hour workshop exploring Membra Jesu nostri, a seventeenth-century oratorio by Dieterich Buxtehude.

This fascinating cycle of seven cantatas dates from 1680, and is considered the first Lutheran oratorio. Each cantata focuses on a different part of Christ's crucified body, taking Biblical passages and medieval poetry as its text.

Participants will have the chance to sing excerpts from the piece alongside the professional singers of Siglo de Oro, and the session will conclude with an informal performance.

Sheet music will be provided for attendees - PDFs in advance and paper copies on the day.
