music for choir with strings - suggestions please! Can't Post

Hi

Oxford Collutorium are performing James Macmillan's Seven Last Words in late March in the version for string orchestra. We'd like some suggestions for other repertoire to complete the concert, ideally making use of the strings. All suggestions welcomed!

Hi Tim,

You could try Purcell, Mozart or similar - where Strings were the usual Accompaniment - though choice will be important to work with the MacMillan in a programme; we're singing the following in April with baroque band:

WA Mozart: Missa Brevis in B flat, K276b
WA Mozart: Ave Verum Corpus,
Henry Purcell: O Sing unto the Lord
Hennry Purcell: Now does the Glorious Day Appear

regards

Chris

Chris

Thanks for those suggestions.

In the end the conductor decided the strings had enough on their plate just learning the Macmillan piece, so we're doing some unaccompanied stuff to complete the program!
