Ruskin Chorale - formerly the John Ruskin Choral Society is looking for new members in all sections. The choir sings three concerts a year, two main concerts consisting of choral repertoire for small choirs. For instance this season we are singing in Autumn The Music of John Rutter mainly his motets, anthems and blessings. The Spring term features the music of Karl Jenkins with movements from his Stabat Mater plus a world premiere performance of John Barker's Somewhere (In Space). Our summer concert is called "Music for the Fun of it" and is light-hearted material chosen by the choir, with accompaniment of piano, drums and bass and features, popular music, jazz, some classical repertoire and contemporary choral music by Will Todd. We rehearse Wednesday nights during term time at Shirley Methodist Church, Eldon Avenue, Croydon from 7.45 to 9.45pm.

There is no voice test and while reading music is an advantage it is not 100% needed. All new members will get a helping hand in whatever they need. We even sometimes run workshops on musical notation and vocal technique.

Fees are very low and the first term is free of charge. There is no minimum rehearsal attendance. The only thing we ask, is that people have fun and make music to the best of their ability.

For anyone wanting to hear the choir please feel free to come to our next concert on 18 November 7.30pm at Shirley Methodist Church.
