Youth Music's Singbook Workshops Can't Post

SINGBOOK WORKSHOPS are for anyone leading or aspiring to lead singing with young people

Youth Music is running a series of workshops across the UK in support of its new resource for singing, Singbook. Workshops are suitable for singing leaders of all backgrounds and abilities who may be looking for:
  • skills development opportunities to improve singing leadership
  • creative ideas for singing new repertoire
  • networking opportunities
  • skills and confidence to start leading singing activities with children and young people

Singbook explores a diverse range of musical styles, genres and cultures; from Gujarati, Mandarin and Albanian songs to music by some of the UK's best-known songwriters, including Howard Goodall, Nirmala Shah, Eugene Skeef and the writing team Debbie Wiseman and Don Black. It has two professionally produced CDs of backing tracks and each song is presented as a complete 'unit', fully supported by learning strategies, warm ups and creative music-making ideas.

One-day residential workshop are running across England from June - October 2005. Each workshop begins on a Friday evening 6pm and ends at 5pm the next day. The cost of the workshop, which includes all training, accommodation, meals and a copy of Singbook (RRP £19.95) is normally £135 for individuals sponsored by their employers, and £95 for self-funded individuals.

Youth Music is a national charity which funds and facilitates music-making for young people up to the age of 18, particularly those living in areas of social and economic need. By 2010, we aim to reach 1.2 million children and young people through singing as we believe it is an activity that all children and young people can participate in, benefit and learn from.
