Oxford Lieder Festival Can't Post

Not strictly choral… but a shameless bit of advertising to those who sing or are interested in vocal music regarding the Oxford Lieder Festival.

Oxford Lieder was formed in 2002 to promote the neglected art form of song and has now presented nearly 50 concerts in Oxford, bringing a range of musicians to the city, both established artists in the profession and young performers on their way to successful careers. 2005 will see the fourth annual Oxford Lieder Festival: in three years the festival has grown from a handful of concerts to a two-week spectacular of recitals, masterclasses, talks and workshops, making its mark as a festival of national importance. Artists in previous years have included Kate Royal, Geraldine McGreevy, Mark Padmore, James Gilchrist, Ian Partridge, Gerald Finley, Thomas Guthrie, Julius Drake, Malcolm Martineau and Graham Johnson, and the festival’s patron is Sir Thomas Allen.

This year’s festival promises to be very exciting (the outstanding line-up including Olaf Bär, Sarah Connolly, Jonathan Lemalu, Christopher Maltman, Sarah Walker, Graham Johnson and Iain Burnside), with concerts every evening 15th-29th October and several lunchtime concerts too.

Of particular interest may be the workshop for adults on Saturday 23rd October, taken by Fiona Dobie.
