Reading choir holds open evening for new singers Can't Post

Calling all budding singers: make a note of choir’s open evening

Have you ever wanted to try singing in a choir? Reading Festival Chorus, one of the town’s foremost amateur choral societies, welcomes all budding singers to an open evening on Monday October 30th from 7.30pm at Reading Town Hall.

The rehearsal is free to join and open to anyone who is interested in joining the choir or would like to see what it is like to sing with a choral society of nearly 100 singers under a professional conductor and accompanied by a professional pianist.

The choir will be rehearsing the popular choral work Vivaldi’s Gloria between 7:30pm and 9:30pm in the Victoria Room at Reading Town Hall on Blagrave Street, which is just two minutes’ walk from the railway station. Music will be provided and there will be a short break for refreshments, which carry a small charge. Singers are advised to bring a small bottle of water to have on hand during the rehearsal.

Reading Festival Chorus is a friendly and sociable choir, which also welcomes newcomers throughout the year at any of its regular rehearsals. These take place every Monday evening at the Town Hall between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.

The choir, conducted by Janet Lincé, performs at least three concerts a year in the Thames Valley, covering a complete range of choral music. Previous concert venues have included The Hexagon, Bearwood College Theatre and the University of Reading’s Great Hall. The choir is a registered charity and more information can be found on its website www.readingfestivalchorus.org.uk.
