Charity GOSPEL SINGING WORKSHOP, 26th Nov Can't Post

Sunday 26th November 2006, 1100-1630, informal concert at 1800

Cost of the day, including lunch £15 (£10 for students and concessions)

Venue: Fitznells Music Centre, Ewell Castle School, Ewell, Surrey

Due to popular demand, ‘Performing For CF’ are running a Gospel Singing Workshop to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. In past years, workshops have included classical masterpieces such as Faure’s ‘Requiem’ and Vivaldi’s ‘Gloria’.

For anyone with an interest in singing, Gospel music is really the most accessible and rewarding experience. The music is uplifting, soulful, inspiring and best of all- simple! The workshop will cover the great range of styles including traditional folk songs, Caribbean, pop and church Gospel as well as arrangements of well known songs.

Amazing Grace, Lean On Me, Everytime I Feel The Spirit, Something Inside So Strong and O Happy Day- are only some of the songs that will be taught, learnt and performed on the day.

This is a workshop for everyone. In true Gospel practice, songs are taught orally so reading music is definitely not a prerequisite. For more experienced singers, you will have the opportunity to harmonize, improvise and be creative. To help and support you, we will be joined by members of an experienced choir, Barisons Chamber Choir.

The workshop is led by Adam Assen, a young, dynamic and energetic conductor. Aside from his classical background, Adam is a performer of non-Western music, in particular African folk music from Mauritius. His band ‘Solatimo’ perform regularly on the world music scene, most recently at the Carling Academy Islington and Commonwealth Institute.

This event promises to be a fun day of singing and an informal concert at the end, will allow friends and family to come and hear your achievements.

After all the fun and enjoyment is over, your donations will be going to a very valuable cause.
