seek new Director
The Hildegard Choirs in Oxford are looking for a new Director for January 2007.
The internationally acclaimed senior choir (girls aged 13-18) currently rehearses on Sunday afternoons for the second half of each term leading up to a concert. The Junior Choir (girls aged 9-12) and the Novices' Choir (girls aged 6-9) also rehearse on Sunday afternoons, but for the first half of each term leading up to a half term concert. Ideally we are looking for someone who is willing and able to take on all three choirs. All Senior, most Junior and some Novice Choir girls have singing lessons and the teaching is currently shared by the Director and two other Hildegard Singing Teachers.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic and inspirational choral director with an interest in sacred music, amongst other genres, and good vocal and keyboard skills. He or she will also have a good rapport with children and teenagers, good administrative skills and the vision to take the choirs into an exciting new phase. We can offer you a very fulfilling and rewarding part time job working with talented, keen and motivated young people.
Remuneration is partly by stipend and partly from earnings from singing lessons which will vary depending on the number of singing pupils you take on. The directing stipend alone is £4000 per annum, but with the teaching currently available this figure could be doubled.
Please send your CV (and, if possible, a choral recording) to:
The Hildegard Choirs, Cherwell House, Chadlington Road, Oxford OX2 6SY by Friday 10th November.
Interviews and auditions will be held in late November & early December.
