We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a relevant background in choral singing, performing and conducting to take the choir forward in a way that builds on the choir's background and composition to maintain and broaden its appeal. The post's duties and responsibilities are :-
- Rehearsing and training the choir, conducting the choir at concerts and other events, advising the Committee on repertoire for future performances, locating and recriuting soloists and other performers for concerts agreeing performing fees within budgets set by the Committee, liaising closely with the Committee, and must be able to motivate a group of differing musical ability, have experience of conducting a choir of comparable outlook and possess performing contacts locally and beyond.
The Director of Music is an ex-officio member of the Committee and is paid a retaining fee. Currently the Director of Music provides piano accompaniment with a rehearsal accompanist coming in for the last two or three rehearsas nearer the concert. This would be open to negotiation.
We are looking for the new Director to start from the Spring term beginning in January 2020 although a later date could be considered according to circumstance.
